Where to start? Brewhemia is a Czech beer palace, kitchen, Italian caffè and Prosecco bar spread over several spectacular spaces. The Market Street venue opens for breakfast and pretty much offers all things to everybody until late at night. The ‘brew’ of Brewhemia might mark the venue out as bloke-friendly. And it is. But it also appeals to couples, families and groups of women. With regular live entertainment, DJs, a novelty photo booth, tank beer, cocktails and Champagne plus a selection of spaces that run from a sleek Boudoir to the Beer Palace, Brewhemia has a space for all people and all occasions.

Classic brasserie in city centre
With the first Browns opening in 1973, this family of classic brasseries has had plenty of time to polish its offer. Stylish, timeless interiors; smartly turned out staff and simple but well sourced and prepared dishes are key. Located in the old General Post Office building on George Square, the Browns Brasserie and Bar in Glasgow fits the mould neatly. A live pianist keeps the atmosphere sparkling on a Sunday from 3pm – 6pm.

Grown out of a street food business, Harajuku Kitchen is an informal and sunny Japanese restaurant. The sushi and sashimi may be the stars but the other sections of the menu have much to recommend. The noodle soups and noodle stir fries are always popular while others prefer dishes like the teriyaki chicken; panko-breaded pork with Japanese curry or the mixed tempura. The popcorn flavoured green tea is fun.
