Explore Glasgow Finnieston restaurants

Over the last few years, Finnieston has blossomed from post-industrial backwater to a hip and happening district with a distinct arty edge. The recent opening of The Hydro has only boosted the area's allure.

Many would say that Finnieston's bars and restaurants help set the trends that the rest of the city follows. It's certainly a fertile breeding ground for cool pop-ups, gin-slinging mixologists and innovative young chefs determined to forge their own style.

Often quirky, sometimes unconventional, the most recent wave of bistros, bars and off-beat speakeasys makes Finnieston a strong contender for the title of Glasgow's most vibrant neighbourhood.

The Finnieston Finnieston, Glasgow

Scottish, Seafood

Taking its name from the hip and fashionable area in which it sits, The Finnieston Bar and Restaurant is a safe haven for seafood lovers. Cosy wooden booths, a few tiled walls, storm lamps, rigging and fishing photos all lend an appropriately nautical theme. An open fire keeps it all cosy. If the decor tips a wink to old sea dogs, the cooking - and the cocktail list - are distinctly more modern and urban. An outside seating area is popular when the weather is behaving.

Fantastic meal, will be back ASAP

Went to Cubatas on a Saturday night, was busy enough but not overly so. Good mix of clients, couple, friends, families which was reassuring. We ordered 6 tapas; prawns, black pudding, potatas bravas, paella, sweet potato and chorizo and sea bass. All were delicious, sea bass and the potato and chorizo were favourites. House white wine was lovely, perfect for the dishes and finished the meal with salted caramel espresso martinis which were fantastic!!

    Good value & tasty

It was quiet as we went early for pre-theatre. Staff attentive and food excellent. Lamb Jalahandri was particularly good. Wine reasonably priced.

Regeneration of Glasgow’s Finnieston

Today it is transformed. Finnieston has become one of the most lively, popular neighbourhoods for a night out, with a plethora of bars and restaurants arriving in recent years thanks in part to the opening of the Hydro.

There’s been talk of “the new Byres Road” but Finnieston retains its below the radar credentials, maybe due to its lack of public transport access – there’s no steady stream of revellers stepping off the subway…
