Warm woollen mittens and whiskers on kittens are all fine and dandy but, to be honest, exciting new bars are much nearer the top of our favourite things list.
Swing by the West End’s most exciting new bar with today’s Big Deal from Chequers Cocktail House and Grill on Great Western Road.
Specialising in beautifully made drinks, Chequers is a subtly lit, speakeasy style hangout with lots of nooks and crannies, hand-crafted wooden features and a dramatic sweeping bar.
Not only are they dab hands with a cocktail shaker. The Chequers crew are also skilled pan rattlers and know their way around a mighty fine brunch and a belly-bustin’ burger.
Today’s Big Deal is a great opportunity to see what the Chequers kitchen can do for you.
With vouchers valid from now until the 13th of February 2016, this offer could be used as a fun stocking filler or simply as a good excuse to try this new cocktail joint.
Brunch for 2
Available Monday to Friday, 10am to 4pm, option one is for two people to have a main course from the brunch menu at Chequers along with tea or coffee.
From the Big Veggie Chequer cooked breakfast to French toast, blueberry pancake stacks and a finger-licking gourmet sandwich selection, Chequers has brunch well and truly sorted.
Of course, for many of us, breakfast means eggs and at Chequers you can dig into eggs Benedict, eggs Florentine, eggs served with Stornoway black pudding or salmon and eggs that have been boiled, poached, scrambled or fried the way you like them.
The Big Chequer breakfast is excluded.
Burger for 2
Option two is for two people to have any burger from the Chequer selection and these vouchers are valid Monday to Wednesday, 10am to 8.30pm; Thursday, 10am to 7pm and from 10am to 5pm on Fridays.
There are five different burgers to choose from: chargrilled halloumi and mushroom; chicken with chipotle mayo; The Big Smoky made with slow cooked, pulled shin of beef; the Chequer burger with shitake mushrooms and the house ketchup plus the All American Cheeseburger.
At the time of writing, Chequers was so new that there was no TripAdvisor page. However, enthusiastic customers have already been leaving praise on the bar’s Facebook page:
‘Great food, great staff and still had cash for mortgage. Too full for dessert but will have one when we are back, which will be soon.’
‘Such a lovely place, high class cocktail bar… can’t recommend it enough. Food is amazing too.’
Chequers Cocktail House and Grill may be the new kid on the block but it looks set to become an old favourite.
Road test the menu with today’s Big Deal. Even better, buy a handful of vouchers, tootle along with friends and make a party of it.
The January blues are easy to beat when there is brunch with pals on the horizon.
