It is fair to say that the Scottish summer has only sizzled intermittently this year.
Happily the sun is always shining at Sugar Dumplin, the beach-shack BBQ bar in Princes Square which is providing this sunny Big Deal.
Beach shack vibe
Designed to make you feel you are kicking back in a Caribbean beach bar, Sugar Dumplin creates a relaxed and laidback atmosphere, whatever the weather may be doing outside.
The Scottish Sun reckons that ‘Sugar Dumplin has fast become one of Glasgow’s top hot spots’ and wrote that ‘the Caribbean bar and restaurant, which recently celebrated its first birthday, is undoubtedly one of Princes Square’s coolest new venues.’
We’re not going to argue. It’s too hot.
Available seven days a week, the offer is for two people to enjoy a Tear and Share platter at Sugar Dumplin.
Designed for two people, the platter includes the following:
Sticky bbq ribs with Irie and spring onion glaze
Hickory smoked wings, finished on the chargrill with green chilli and mango glaze
Sugar Dumplin house fries with the house secret Caribbean spice
Rice and peas: this classic side is a perfect combination of rice, spices, kidney beans and black eyed peas
Fried dumplings with your choice of sauce from gentle nyam nyam to Lawd a massi for those who like it hot ‘n’ spicy
Sugar Dumplin has been winning plenty of positive feedback on its 5pm page. We chuckled as we read this great review from Martin Farrer:
‘Difficult to make an impact and be a different restaurant in Glasgow but Sugar Dumplin has it in buckets – and spades! Great décor with boat booths and seaside shacks with driftwood signs. Main drinks are cocktails – extensive list and are good value. Food brilliant with ribs that packed sparkling flavours, mains of BBQ jerk chicken and special burger with sides of fries and dumplings added up to a cool running.’
If you haven’t quite saved up the airfare for that Barbados break, this is the next best thing.
Forget the Scottish weather for an hour or so and lap up the vibe and flavours of the Caribbean with this Big Deal.
It’s the ideal chance for a cosy catch-up with a friend or family, an after work snack, a laidback lunch or the start of a big night out.
