Forget the sun cream. A quick look at the weather forecast seems to show that wellies may be more useful over the next few days.

Happily we can still feel the heat with today’s Big Deal on a two course meal for two at Mr Singh Ji in Uddingston.

A recent addition to Uddingston, Mr Singh Ji is an Indian restaurant on New Edinburgh Road.

Chic dining room

With smart booth seating and designer lighting, it is a chic dining room for a romantic meal, working lunch or dinner with friends and family.

Well presented dishes, dapper staff, sparkling wine glasses and immaculate place settings all make Mr Singh Ji a good destination for a memorable meal.

Classic and modern Indian dishes

Available for lunch and dinner, seven days a week, the offer is for two people to each have a starter and main course from selected sections of the a la carte menu.

As part of the offer, poppadoms and mango chutney will be served so you have something to munch while mulling over the menu.

Popular starters include the veg or mince samosas plus a variety of haggis pakora including that old fave – the haggis pakora.

Other options might be the chicken chatt or chicken tikka starter.

From the main courses, the sweet and sour chasni has many fans although we find it hard to look past a lamb balti.

The selection of biryani dishes are always a big hit and Mr Singh Ji offers appealing veggie dishes like the tarka daal and paneer lababdar – a mild dish of goat’s cheese cooked with tomato and cashew nut.

Of course, there are all the bhoonas, dopiaza, vindaloo and korma curries that you could ask for.

Dishes from the Tandoori main courses section of the menu will be charged a £2 supplement. Tandoori mixed grill is not included.

The king prawn and sharing platter are excluded from the starters. King prawn main courses will be charged a £4 supplement.

Opened relatively recently, Mr Singh Ji has yet to attract many reviews. This is an excerpt from a longer review:

‘This new, and recent restaurant is now totally a la carte, and has its own special menu, and a new-chef… authentic Indian meals. All meals individually cooked to order. Give it a try… you won’t be disappointed!’

Make your summer sizzle

Mr Singh Ji has its own car park and the nearby M74 and M8 give rapid access to Glasgow and the motorway system.

All of which make it very easy to make the most of this Big Deal on a two course dinner for two at one of Uddingston’s newest restaurants.
