Run by the award-winning, eponymous chef and his wife, Ian Brown Restaurant is a relaxed and friendly neighbourhood hotspot.

The décor is elegantly simple – check the Paul Hodgkiss hardwood fittings – and the service is informal and professional.

The setting may be suburban but the cooking would give many a respected city centre restaurant a very stiff run for their money – before striking out on his own, Chef Brown ran the kitchen at one of Glasgow’s influential restaurants for more than twenty years.

Locally sourced, freshly cooked from scratch

Local sourcing is central to the kitchen and every dish is cooked from scratch. The cooking is modern Scottish in that Scottish ingredients are proudly listed and then prepared using techniques and flavours from around the globe.

Available from noon to 2.30pm, Tuesday to Saturday, and from noon to 4pm on Sundays, the offer is for two people to each have two courses from the lunch menu with a glass of Prosecco offered on arrival.

Seasonal menus

The menus change depending on the seasons but typical starters might be the poached salmon cocktail; the honey-glazed beetroot and feta cheese salad or the beef stovies with brown sauce and vegetable crisps.
