Imagine food with a jaunty, glowing halo on top and you get an idea of what Vesta in Edinburgh does.
A partner of the charity Social Bite, the kitchen team promises ‘food to glow’ – in other words, nutritious, gourmet cuisine with big flavours. On top of this, Vesta helps people experiencing homelessness as well (no wonder it’s been picking up celebrity visitors like Leonardo Di Caprio).
So why not sample it for yourself with today’s Big Deal on a two-course meal for two with a glass of wine or Prosecco each?
Cuisine that cares
Vesta is a restaurant and social initiative based in the West End and about a 15-minute walk from Haymarket station. Inside, you will find a cheerful eating space that’s both stylish and rustic.
Open exclusively on Monday afternoons to feed people experiencing homelessness, Vesta also offers training and employment programmes for vulnerable individuals. In other words, it really is a restaurant with a heart.
As The Filmhouse, Odeon and Usher Hall are all nearby, this would be a great spot for a bite to eat before a film or show.
Food to glow
This Big Deal is for a two-course a la carte meal for two (starter and main) at Vesta, accompanied by a glass of wine or Prosecco each.
You can enjoy your meal seven days a week from 12pm to 9pm, right up until the 31st of March 2020. Fancy a get-together with pals? Then you can also buy multiples with up to eight people dining.
Tasty and nutritious dishes
Vesta’s menu is bursting with gourmet dishes, comfort classics and meat-free treats. The wine list includes a few ethical choices as well.
The menu can change, but typical mains include the Vesta 7oz burger, flat iron steak sandwich, massaman grilled chicken curry, crab linguine, and slow-braised pork belly. Note, rib-eye steak is excluded.
Vegans can tuck into treats like non-dairy mac ‘n’ cheese; BBQ Moving Mountain burger, and the miso-glazed seitan & cashew stir fry.
Vesta has been collecting outstanding reviews on its Facebook page. Here is one, edited for shortness:
‘Met a friend here yesterday for lunch and was hugely impressed. Not only did I love the decor and style but the service was outstanding… I loved the menu, it is fresh, inspiring and great to see something different being offered in Edinburgh. Great vegan options… couldn’t fault this place – would highly recommend.’
West End dining with a difference
From healthy grub to homeless initiatives, Vesta is definitely a restaurant with the feel-good factor. Plus its central location makes it great for dining before a film or show, or even treating yourself to a meal after shopping.
So why not grab this Big Deal and enjoy the dual glow that you get from eating healthy, flavoursome food served in a restaurant with a heart?
