Based on South Bridge, this diner bar has a quirky interior filled with barber’s chairs, cinematic imagery and comfy, retro-style booths. In other words, it’s a chilled spot to unwind with a meal and a drink (they’ll even let you bring your hound dog along).

If you are travelling in by train, The Whistle Stop is a handy a five-minute walk from Waverley station. Plus as the Festival Theatre is a couple of minutes away by foot and the Queen’s Hall is about ten minutes, this would make a good pre-theatre option.
