Available seven days a week, the Big Deal is for two people to have a one, two or three night stay in a Double or Twin room with a full Scottish breakfast each morning and a £15.95 per person spend on dinner each night in the hotel’s bistro restaurant.

Awarded a Taste Our Best 2015/16 title from Visit Scotland, the hotel’s chefs are proud to serve local produce, which includes the island’s sustainable Gigha Halibut which is farmed on Gigha to help reduce pressure on endangered wild stock of halibut in the sea.

The kitchen also bakes its own bread and serves Scottish lamb and beef and cheese, including Kintyre cheese which is made locally.

The menus at the Sound of Gigha Bistro change depending on what’s fresh, local produce is available, but typical starters might include chicken and black pudding salad with a port and red wine sauce or the crayfish cocktail on gem lettuce with marie rose sauce and artisan bread.

Mains may include pan fried salmon fillet caesar salad served with gem lettuce, anchovies, parmesan and caesar dressing or the slow roast lamb shank in a rosemary and mint sauce on creamed potatoes and roast vegetables.

There is also a range of desserts to choose from such as the warm banoffee pie with cream or the apple cider and brandy charlotte with ice cream.

The hotel’s breakfast menu includes a full Scottish cooked breakfast, egg benedict and smoked haddock, along with a selection of cereals, fruit juice, yoghurt, homemade jams, porridge and toast.

See and do

Gigha may be small but there is no shortage of things to do on the island. Many guests like to explore the magnificent Achamore Gardens.

You could also hire a sea kayak, rowing boat or wetsuit from Gigha Boats Activity Centre; play the island’s challenging 9-hole golf course or simply walk to the top of Creag Bhan and watch the sun set behind Islay.

“Food was excellent..I loved the menu. I complimented the chef personally ..the kitchen staff were excellent. Breakfast was brilliant..I especially liked the fact you had a sheet to place your order… and put what time it was required. It meant it was freshly made for you..a really good toast machine gave you crispy hot toast which was very welcome. A really wide choice too..all you could really want for a hearty,tasty breakfast.. We especially loved the small bottles of Wee Dairy Milk that was on the table..from a local farm where we could actually see the cows that produced it…a real nostalgia trip..cold full cream milk on your porridge…brilliant. Service was great too very efficient and friendly. We walked from one end of the island and back…probably about thirteen miles… loved every second. Can’t wait to go back….”

“Arrived at the hotel after a pleasant car run from Glasgow, crossing with the ferry on a smooth sea. The hotel is a short walk from the pier. Beautiful island. Hotel very friendly and very welcoming. Meals delicious, ( prawn cocktail followed by beer battered haddock) . Entertaining evening with music by local musicians, for such a small island there is a lot to find out that’s interesting. ( community buyout etc). Lovely breakfast next day followed by a stroll down to one of the many beautiful beaches. Overall experience lovely and chilled out, can’t wait to come back.”
