House specialities and old favourites

The Ashoka Johnstone has plenty of options to entice Indian novices and beguile old hands. If you hanker after a bhoona, dansak or dopiaza then all the gang are there in the old favourites’ section of the menu. There are also lots of highly popular tandoori sizzler options – including succulent salmon, lamb, chicken and prawn – as well as a good spread of classic vegetarian dishes.

The staff recommend that curry connoisseurs try dishes like the lamb massalum – lamb shank roasted in garlic butter and served in a garlic and ginger masala – or the salmon malabar – fillets of tandoori salmon sautéed in south Indian spices with a dash of tropical coconut milk.
