About Pieminister

Laidback pie restaurant in Northern Quarter

The first Manchester branch of the Pieminister family, this pie-oneer opened on Church Street, in the heart of the Northern Quarter, in 2013. Featuring a ground floor and mezzanine level, it is simply decorated with bare brick walls, tongue and groove panelling, white tiles and fashionably retro industrial lighting. It has a friendly, laidback vibe and visitors are as welcome to pop in for a daytime pie and a read of the papers as they are to drop by for a full evening meal, perhaps with a couple of ciders or a craft beer. The staff are happy to recommend pie and pint pairings.

Wide range of gourmet pies

As the name suggests, pies are at the heart of the Pieminister menu. There is a core range of ten classic pies plus three open top varieties. Options include the classic beef steak and ale; a free range chicken, smoked bacon and tarragon pie plus veggie choices like the Wildshroom which is filled with wild mushrooms, asparagus, white wine and cream.

From minty mushy peas to creamy mashed potato, there are tempting sides and toppings for the pies along with a supporting cast of traditional British comfort foods. Think pulled pork Scotch eggs and hot sausage rolls.
