Heard good reviews and since mothers day thought we'd book a table. Done it through 5pm + got confirmation. When we arrived they didn't have our booking asked when booked, was very busy but managed to accommodate us. Was given the Mother's Day menu (£14.95 2 course or £16.95 3 course) as that's what was on, not the 5pm menu (£7.95 2 course £11.95 3 course) but that was ok, was more expensive but that didn't matter. Ordered food it was lovely and good plateful couldn't complain about meal at all. Although had to ask for dessert menu as no one came back to us after clearing away the plates think they'd forgot about us. One of party wasn't happy with regards to length of time we'd to wait on dessert menu then length of time it took to come out. Understand it was busy but there were plenty of staff on to keep it ticking over. On Mother's Day menu it stated cocktail for each mum and a gift which none of the mums in our party received. Weren't offered tea or coffee as stated on menu either. Asked for bill and queried it as seemed to be dearer than first thought, was checked out and refund given.
If having special menus on days like these then they should take advert off 5pm and save mix up and confusion with bookings as they were taking bookings over the phone as well or they should have so many tables allocated for telephone bookings, walk ins and 5pm ones. We weren't the only people who had this problem.

The family-run Riverside Tavern reopened as a traditional local in 2015, quickly attracting a mixed crowd of locals, visitors and passing walkers with its superior take on pub favourites. With a handy location right on the river bank, it’s a popular destination for pub lunches and a post-hike bite. Entertainment includes karaoke and quiz nights.
The Riverside Tavern menu puts the accent on classic pub fare, although there are diversions into international favourites. Starters offer a soup of the day, breaded mushrooms with garlic mayo, a duck and port pate with orange, cognac, brioche and onion chutney and Indian style pakora. Mains tick all the comfort food boxes, with home made steak pie, Scottish whole tail scampi, a chicken curry, and proper pork and leek sausages with mash. There are also vegetarian options and a range of handmade burgers, with toppings ranging from fashionable pulled pork to spicy chillies.
Desserts round up the usual suspects, including sticky toffee pudding and chocolate fudge cake. All food is freshly prepared by the head chef and his team.
The Riverside Tavern is located in the village of Kirkfieldbank near Lanark. Bus services 8, 8A, 258 and 317 offer regular connections between the village and Lanark. There is on street parking close to the pub. Nearby attractions include the Clyde walkway trail and the Falls of Clyde mural, created in 1969 by Alasdair Gray.
