East Kilbride’s cobblestoned village has long been a hidden gem of the West of Scotland restaurant scene. And one of its newest additions, No 2 Montgomery, prides itself on offering contemporary dining with a focus on fresh fish, quality steaks and cocktails.
Based in a historic building, diners can tuck into locally sourced handmade dishes in a relaxed setting. Menus change regularly to reflect what is in season, with meat being supplied from a farm just down the road in Jackton, plus gin and whisky sourced from Jackton Distillery too.

The morning selection ranges from full Scottish breakfasts to healthy granola bowls. Or for a naughtier treat, opt for pancakes, brioche French toast or waffles drizzled in delights like chocolate ganache & raspberries. Or you could feast on a variety of tempting egg dishes such as skillet-baked eggs with garlic creamed spinach & wild mushrooms, or poached eggs on sourdough with bacon & maple syrup.
And over at the brunchier end of things, you can tuck into monkfish scampi with skin-on fries; a hearty steak, eggs & chips, or Vadouvan roasted cauliflower risotto.
The dinner menu showcases seafood in its starter selection, with scallops, mussels and Isle of Bute salmon all available.
Heading out to celebrate? Mains feature the very decadent ‘Beef, Reef & Bubbles’ — an 8oz sirloin steak with langoustines, garlic, lemon, parsley butter and hand-cut chips, served with Prosecco. Other choices include the Jackton Farm beef burger or the pesto & asparagus pappardelle pasta. Fish lovers can tuck into sea bass with mussels, sauteed potatoes and samphire.
Desserts include passionfruit cheesecake served with berry compote and a selection of Scottish cheeses.
The restaurant is in The Village area of East Kilbride, a short stroll from the main train station and a 30-minute drive from Glasgow city centre.
It is in a very handy location for venues like the Village Theatre and East Kilbride Arts Centre, meaning this would make a great pre-theatre choice. The shops and bars of the town centre are easy to reach too.
