Little gem in Partick
My 2 friends and I dined here using a 5pm deal. The food was delicious and the service very friendly. This was my second visit and a first for my friends who raved about how good it was. Would definitely dine here again.
Visited here in August and was delighted by the food- so delicious, great selection and very reasonable priced. Nice choice of food that is not so easily available in Glasgow. Really nice inside, good size and cocktail menu looked great. The service was really good and I will definitely be back.
Laidback bar in West End
Taking inspiration from the holiday hot spots of the Pacific Rim, Honu is on Dumbarton Road – Glasgow’s answer to Polynesia. With cool blue walls and great views of the Dumbarton Road street life, this casual bar diner is a laidback spot for sipping a couple of cocktails or grazing on an aubergine burger. Perhaps with some salted edamame beans on the side.
Pan-Pacific dining: poke bowls, flatbreads, Thai curries and more
Inviting as the cocktail list is, the food is just as big an attraction at Honu. Small plates feature choices such as Korean chicken bites with gochujang sauce; king prawn tempura and grilled halloumi served with yoghurt, a pineapple salsa and flatbread.
Main courses include a range of Thai red curries; a chicken katsu burger and slow-cooked brisket on a brioche bun with skinny fries. If you want to be on trend, order a poke bowl (pronounced POH-ke). Hawaii’s take on sushi, those served at Honu can be topped with tempura king prawn, panko chicken or cauliflower and orange. Adventurous diners can say ‘Aloha’ to the sweet chix waffle: fried chicken, hazelnut ice cream, blueberry infused maple syrup, blueberry with skinny fries
West End transport links
Located towards the Thornwood Park end of Dumbarton Road, Honu is around a ten minute walk from Partick railway station. There is some on-street parking in the area and several bus routes run along Dumbarton Road into Glasgow city centre.
