Not only was the food amazing and really great value, what makes this an amazing venue is both the atmosphere and the brilliant staff.
My friend and I were served by David and he made the meal all the better with his great service. My friend had the pakora for a starter and chicken tempura for main, while I had the tempura for starter and lasagne for main. All of the food was great and came out very quickly.
I will be back again in the future.

Have visited here several times before and it did not let us down this time round. Good value, great service, excellent food. Love that the music (which is just our type) from the bar is not intrusive in the restaurant.

Maggie Mays is on Trongate in Glasgow’s vibrant Merchant City, and is a popular venue for diners, drinkers, clubbers and gig-goers. Put another way, you could go to Maggie Mays for a bowl of soup at 11am and emerge at 3am the next day having been well fed and watered, watched a band and danced your socks off. If you want anything from a bite to eat to a full-blown feast, then head for Maggie Mays.
Wheelchair accessible, the restaurant is separate from the main bar and uses local produce to make a variety of dishes. Child-friendly, highchairs and a special menu are available for younger diners, however children are not permitted on the premises after 8pm. A gluten free menu is also available.
Scottish food takes front stage at Maggie May’s in Glasgow, with some items such as the crispy tempura or tagliatelle from further afield. The menu may feature a starter of salmon and sweet potato fishcake with salad and tartare sauce, a main course of chorizo & Stornoway black pudding salad or the iconic (and infamous) dessert of crisp fried Mars Bar served with Crolla’s vanilla ice cream. Apparently somebody had to do it.
The restaurant uses specially selected Scottish steaks for their grill dishes, which are simply seasoned before being chargrilled and served with tomato, mushroom, onion rings, ‘chipped tatties’ and a choice of sauce. Also on offer are the homemade burgers which include options such as ‘The Haggis Burger’ (one for the tourists), ‘The Texan’ (topped with chilli beef & mozzarella), and the daunting ‘Greedy B’ (two burgers, mozzarella, cheddar cheese, two slices of bacon, two onion rings & topped with peppercorn sauce).
Maggie Mays is on Trongate which is a short walk from Glasgow’s Argyle Street. Bus stops and taxi ranks are nearby, with St. Enoch Subway station and Central Station a 10 minute walk away. High Street train station is a brisk 5 minute walk from the restaurant, and guests travelling by car can use the pay parking facilities at the NCP car park around the corner in Albion Street.
