City centre local and sports bar

Stylishly refurbished in the spring of 2016, Committee Room No 9 is a traditional Scottish sports bar on John Street. It bills itself as a local in the city centre and has the relaxed, friendly ambience that you would expect of a neighbourhood bar. Divided over several levels, dining areas and types of seating, Committee Room No 9 is spacious but provides lots of semi-private areas for different groups. There is regular live music and comprehensive coverage of all major sporting events. The outside seating area is popular on sunny days.

Bar classics with American flavours

The menu at Committee Room No 9 mixes classic British bar dishes with BBQ and street food choices. Fish ‘n’ chips; mac ‘n’ cheese and cheddar and chutney sandwiches are examples of the former.

More exotic options might include the buttermilk-marinated fried chicken; the chilli; the ribs in maple bourbon glaze or the currywurst dog from the hot dog selection. A range of burgers, Caesar salads, sharer boards and sweet-toothed desserts complete the picture. There are always regular promos on, for example, wings or buns and beers.

Merchant City & city centre transport

Committee Room No 9 is on John Street in the Merchant City and is a short distance from George Square and Queen Street train station. Glasgow Central train station is a ten minute walk from the restaurant and there is limited on-street parking nearby. There is a pay car park on Ingram Street. The Old Fruitmarket and the Gallery of Modern Art are within easy walking distance.
