Citation is a lovely place, with a lovely ambiance. The restaurant looks beautiful, especially looking out over the balcony area with its twinkling fairy lights. The staff were amazing and very attentive. Now to the food. The menu was set out as starters and main courses, with a small choice of each. I don't normally have a starter, preferring a pudding, but puddings were not on this menu. I chose salmon fishcake which came with rocket in a dressing and a tiny bit of chilli mayonaise. My partner had scallops, which had a £5 supplement. There were 3 scallops on the plate, however they were delicious, and he was pleased. My fishcake was just a fishcake. Nothing exciting, just what you would have at home. It could do with a bit more of the chilli mayonaise, or even a chilli jam .I was disappointed. I chose the haddock and chips for my main, and the fish was big and crunchy and tasty. However the chips were those thin frozen sort of chips. Tasteless and had gone cold before I had finished. My partner had a burger, which he said was very tasty. He had it without the bun , so it didn't look much on the plate, but that was his own fault. We were both a bit underwhelmed by this time. They came round with a dessert menu, but we didn't even look at it as that would have been extra money. Oh and the free glass of wine was tiny ! Coffee was lovely (another extra). We had a cocktail in the lounge before our dinner which was lovely, and there was plenty choice. As I said earlier I liked the venue very much, but I don't think I would go back there for a meal. However maybe others would enjoy it.
