  Wee hidden gem in the city centre

  The pre theatre menu was varied & imaginative & was amazing value for money. Lovely polite & friendly staff made us feel very welcome on a dreich Monday night. Quality food, good portion sizes, delicious wine & cosy interior. Looking forward to a return visit to enjoy another meal on a night where the pianist is in the house!

Comfortable Charing Cross European restaurant

Baby Grand is a quietly chic piano bar and and restaurant on Elmbank Gardens next to Charing Cross low level train station. Opening from 8am during the week and 10am at weekends, the restaurant is a popular stop for commuters seeking a breakfast or coffee before work or a shopping trip. As the day wears on, Baby Grand caters for lunch diners before theatre-goers and workers begin to arrive for evening meals or a relaxing drink before heading home.

European flavours in stylish surroundings

As the open kitchen at Baby Grand uses plenty of local produce, the menus change accordingly and dishes are often treated with a Continental flair. Breakfast includes staples such as warm croissants with butter and homemade jam, morning rolls, and even a full cooked breakfast with tea or coffee. Ciabattas and the restaurant’s soup of the day are popular fixtures at lunchtime.

Typical dishes on the restaurant’s main menu may include mussels Kilpatrick (steamed mussels in a smoked bacon & Parmesan cream with a hint of Tabasco), beer battered fish & chips with tartare sauce, or halloumi & vegetable skewers with cous cous.
