Good Spot, nice food
They were able to accommodate 10 of us plus a child. The food and service were good, and good value for money.
Fringe Festival day out..
Food was delicious - I recommend the sea bass. We were a group of 11 people and our order was not taken quickly although the food arrived in good time - a bit of a delay with the tiramisu but it looked lovely. Doors were left open and several of our party were getting a draught but staff said it would get too hot if they closed one of them.
Cheery Italian in Edinburgh city centre
Martone is a light and airy, family-run Italian cafe restaurant on Waterloo Place in the heart of Edinburgh. As well as a bright and cheerful decor across both the ground and mezzanine level, Martone has an eye-catching ice cream counter filled with many varieties of their award-winning and often unexpected ice cream flavours.
All day Italian menu
Whether you need a hearty breakfast to start the day; a mid-afternoon toastie snack or a morning cup of coffee and an almond croissant, Martone can quickly put you right. There are burgers, wraps, baked potatoes and salads which all make for a quick and tasty lunch. Many of the options have a light Italian touch – the chicken wrap comes with roasted peppers, sun-blushed tomatoes and pesto mayonnaise.
Diners can also delve deeper into Martone’s Italian roots with the extensive range of pizza and pastas available. From a classic Siciliana pizza – topped with tomato, mozzarella, olives, capers and anchovies – to penne cooked with gorgonzola, spinach and a cream sauce, Martone’s chefs can deliver an authentic taste of Italy.
City centre transport and attractions
Martone is on Waterloo Place by the east end of Edinburgh’s Princes Street. Waverley train station is a three minute walk and many major bus routes run past the restaurant.
