Overall could not fault one single thing, food, drinks, atmosphere and the staff were first class. Would definitely recommend. Robert and the team were excellent.

Top of the top the Apex. We were given a table in the sunshine in the Bar which was wonderful. My niece has a lactose intolerance, the staff were extremely helpful in repeatedly checking with the kitchen and arranging solutions. This made it a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Thank you to all the staff at the Apex.

Part of the Apex City of Edinburgh Hotel, Agua Restaurant is on the Grassmarket in Edinburgh’s city centre. Sitting in the shadows of Edinburgh Castle, the restaurant is a bright, contemporary space with striking yellow banquette seating and wall mounted candle lights.
Scotland’s natural larder is at the heart of Agua Restaurant and the kitchen uses local produce to create Scottish dishes as well as choices which have a more international flavour. In addition to a full a la carte there is a fixed price menu. The menus change regularly but typical starters might be the country pork terrine; the king prawn and smoked salmon cocktail or the cashew and pistachio nut slice, served with cherry tomato salsa and a garlic and herb dip.
Main courses might feature a pizza, Scottish sirloin steak with all the trimmings or fish in a batter made with local Caley 80/- beer. More international flavours can be found in dishes such as the lamb shoulder with aromatic spices and cous cous or the salad made with figs, pecan nuts, spinach and poppy seeds.
Agua Restaurant is in the city centre of Edinburgh on the historic Grassmarket, a fifteen minute walk from Waverley train station and a ten minute stroll from Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Mile and The National Museum of Scotland. There is limited on-site parking, but numerous bus stops with regular services are nearby as well as a taxi rank outside.
