The Abercromby Dining Room at the Royal Scots Club is located on Abercromby Place in the heart of Edinburgh’s New Town. Part of a terrace of Georgian townhouses, the Royal Scots Club is a members’ club. However, diners are welcome to enjoy meals in the first floor Abercromby Room
restaurant overlooking Queen Street Gardens.
With its elegant Georgian proportions, gleaming chandeliers and swagged curtains, The Abercromby Dining Room offers a unique Edinburgh experience. Smart casual dress, including smart jeans, is expected.
Scottish produce is very much to the fore on the menus in The Abercromby Room, especially in dishes like the sirloin of 35 day-aged steak from the Borders. While many of the ingredients used may have been grown, reared and harvested in Scotland, the kitchen also looks further afield for inspiration. Exotic choices include the spiced mackerel fillet on toast with a mango salsa or the nasi goreng – Indonesian stir fried rice with chicken and prawns, all topped with a fried egg.
More traditional starters might be the warm chicken livers on balsamic dressed leaves or the classic prawn cocktail. Naturally, there is beer-battered haddock on the menu plus crispy roast chicken breast and a roast of the day. Vegetarian options might include the baked brie on a warm wheat berry and beetroot cous cous.
The Abercromby Dining Room at The Royal Scots Club is around fifteen minutes on foot from Waverley train station. Many major bus routes are close by and the restaurant is accessible to wheelchair users. Metered street parking is available with no charge after 6:30pm.
