Food was good, tasty and good proportions. The 2 course for £20 is good value for money. Good selection of gins, but only a small selection of alternative drinks for people who don't care for gin!

We waited 40 mins to get our order taken, but I don't blame the staff for this. They were overrun and did their best under the circumstances. Restaurant needs to employ more staff during the Festival.

As the name suggests, gin-lovers will find much to admire at Gin71. Located on South Charlotte Street, just off Charlotte Square, the bar and restaurant serves over 70 different brands of gin. Guests can choose between dozens of gin-based cocktails or perfect gin serves with a wide choice of tonics and garnishes. With table service, chandeliers and plush seating, Gin71 is a smart city centre venue. Open from 5pm, it is popular for after work cocktails, a pre-theatre bite or a splendid dinner.
Juniper, gin-inspired ingredients and botanical themed elements are central on the ever evolving menus at Gin71. From the gin to the cheese, the kitchen uses as much seasonal, Scottish produce as possible.
This results in starters such as the winter flower salad with Botanist Gin beetroot, Inverlochy goat’s curd and honeycomb. More substantial options include the venison with chard radicchio, butternut, a dark chocolate reduction and a blackberry and Edinburgh Gin jelly.
The gin flavours continue with desserts such as the gin and dark chocolate fondant accompanied by, among other ingredients, a dark chocolate and Daffy’s Gin fudge foam.

Gin71 is on South Charlotte Street, by Charlotte Square and in between Princes and George Streets. There is restricted on-street parking. The nearest pay parking is at Castle Terrace. At just under a kilometre, Gin71 is equidistant from Waverley and Haymarket train stations. The tram line and several of Edinburgh’s major bus routes run along Princes Street.
