Part of an expanding family of venues, The Butterfly and the Pig is a quirky bar and kitchen on Bath Street. With mismatched furniture, distressed wallpaper and vintage crockery, it has an endearingly laidback ambience. Regular live music and pub quizzes keep it all buzzy whether you are in for a quick drink or three course dinner.
The chefs at The Butterfly and The Pig take pride in making everything from scratch. They also enjoy have fun writing their menus. Try the Cilla Black pudding salad or the fish cakes, described as ‘haddie hannan finny fanon cooked in lemony butter’.
Underneath the fooling around, the kitchen offers good quality, traditional dishes in generous portions. The steak pie, fish ‘n’ chips and house burger are all deservedly popular. Veggies are well catered for with dishes like the Glasgae tart – a pastry made with courgette, tomato, onion, aubergine and, of course, ‘Billy Goat’s cheese’.
The Butterfly and The Pig is on Bath Street and convenient for venues such as the GFT, O2 ABC and King’s Theatre. There is restricted on-street parking and pay parking at the Q Park between West Campbell and Wellington Streets. Central and Queen Street train stations are a ten minute walk.
