    Another good pre-theatre dinner.

A very friendly welcome set the tone of our pre-theatre meal. The food was excellent once again, the service great, the ambience fine, and it was a great start to an amazing evening.

    Excellent!

This was our first time dining in the Sauchiehall Street restaurant (usually dine in the South Side restaurant), and it was great. Friendly service, hot, fresh food which arrived quickly. All round a lovely experience. Child friendly too!

Welcoming tapas restaurant in the city centre

Malaga Tapas is a relaxed family-run Spanish restaurant on Sauchiehall Street. This is the restaurant’s second branch, opened after the success of the original Southside venue. Malaga Tapas showcases Spain’s lively tapas bar tradition, specialising in Iberian cuisine from the Andalusian region. From jamón serrano to croquetas de pollo, the kitchen team aim to bring the essence of Spain to Glasgow, one plate at a time. All of the dishes are made in-house, with ingredients sourced from both local suppliers and imported directly from Spain to ensure an authentic experience.

A taste of Spain on Sauchiehall Street

As the name suggests, most of the menu is dedicated to a wide range of Spanish tapas dishes. Conveniently organised into vegetarian, fish & seafood and meat sections, Malaga Tapas aims to cater to a variety of tastes. Smaller portions are also available for younger diners.

Popular items include the pinchos morunos (skewers of sizzling pork, marinated with cumin, garlic & red wine), the queso de cabra fundido (grilled goats cheese with pomegranate molasses & rocket), and the gambas al pil-pil (king prawns in roasted garlic olive oil & hot red chillies). Freshly made paellas are available for sharing between two and there are various choices on offer, including a seafood paella with prawns, mussels, squid and white fish.

The crema catalena dessert is finished by a blowtorch and is particularly popular with diners.

City centre transport links and attractions

Malaga Tapas is close to the Charing Cross end of Sauchiehall Street, near to the King’s Theatre and GFT, making it ideal for a meal before a show or film. Charing Cross station is a five-minute walk away and also offers pay parking, while Cowcaddens underground is less than 10 minutes away. There are frequent taxis available on Sauchiehall Street.
