Situated on the site of the oldest inn on the Royal Mile, White Horse Oyster Bar serves the best of British shellfish and seafood sourced from boutique suppliers across the country. With its green marble topped tables, smart black booths and gleaming glassware, this is an ideal spot for enjoying the fruits of the sea in style. All dishes are arranged elegantly on the plate, making it a treat for the eyes as well as the palate. Hand-crafted cocktails and a carefully curated selection of wine & fizz complete the picture.
Oysters are obviously the restaurant’s speciality dish and you can enjoy them freshly shucked from the bar. Take your pick from Lindisfarne, Carlingford, Caledonian or Loch Fyne oysters, each with their own distinct flavour styles. Enjoy them naked with lemon and Tabasco, dressed with toppings such as grilled kimchi butter or even fried in batter, tempura-style.
Menus can change, but sharing plates might include the crab Scotch egg with wasabi mayo, the hand-dived scallops with tempura oyster, caviar & chervil butter or the lobster salad with avocado, radish & pickled samphire. Non-seafood fans can tuck into the Glenarm Estate flat-iron steak.
Or why not treat yourself to a seafood platter? Options vary but the hearty full house platter features a half lobster, pickled mussels, clams, king crab legs, oysters, Scotch Bonnet salmon, tuna tartare and dressed crab, as well as sides like bread and fries.
Desserts might include chocolate delice, burnt lemon brûlée and raspberry fool, as well as sorbets and ice cream.
