Nestled in five acres of stunning gardens, this traditional country house hotel is the perfect setting for a short break.

Built in 1914, it has retained the grandeur and charm of the past while also embracing the comforts and conveniences of the modern age.

Stunning architectural details, such as the majestic sweeping staircase with ornate stained-glass windows, and remarkable period pieces, like the penny farthing bicycle and grandfather clock, sit comfortably beside the numerous touches of tasteful modernisation.

Relaxing break

Available 7 days per week, the Big Deal is for two people to enjoy a stay in a standard or double room at Tinto House.

Option one is for a two night stay with a full Scottish breakfast in the morning and a three course table d’hôte dinner with tea or coffee each evening.

Option two is for a one night bed and breakfast stay.

All rooms are en suite and many enjoy views across the beautiful Clyde Countryside.

They are all fully equipped with free WiFi, freeview television, tea and coffee facilities and the option of room service.

Fridays & Saturdays may be booked, depending on availability, and are subject to a weekend supplement charge of £40 per room per night.

Local sourcing

A full Scottish breakfast each morning is included in both options. Option one also features a three course table d’hôte dinner each evening.

The dining room offers relaxed and intimate dining in a spectacular setting overlooking the sprawling countryside of the Scottish Borders. As much as possible, all food is sourced locally.

The menu changes regularly but typical choices might be the steak and Broughton ale pie with horseradish mash; the fresh haddock fillet, which is served crumbed or battered with chips, peas and tartare sauce or the savoury leek and mushroom with sage, thyme and nut crumble.

See and do

The area around the hotel has much to offer the visitor. Local attractions include The Kelpies statues; Kailzie Gardens and Dawyck Botanic Garden.

Alternatively, you could play a round at Biggar Golf Club and try to beat the course record which is held by 99’ Open Champion Paul Lawrie.

‘Excellent country hotel. I stayed here for one night recently… and I’d quite happily return… The room was beautiful and the bed was so comfy! Dinner in the restaurant that evening was amazing. The staff were so friendly, especially the dark haired lady who took my order, and the food was delish… All in all, a fantastic hotel. The staff were amazing, the food was fantastic and you get a good night sleep! Will return soon!’
