Standard doubles are cosy with en-suite bathrooms which feature large double showers or bath with shower over, demisting mirrors and underfloor heating.

Scottish brasserie

The spacious brasserie at No 11 Brunswick Street uses Scotland’s best seasonal ingredients, sourcing meats from local farms and fish and shellfish from Arbroath.

The fixed five course tasting menu changes with seasonal availability, but recent autumn main course highlights have included char-grilled venison steak, served with hand cut chunky chips, cumin roast carrots, green peppercorn and brandy sauce, or fillet of sole Meuniere (caper and shallot beurre noisette), served with new potatoes and green beans.

Guests also have the option of switching to the three- course a la carte menu as an alternative.

Out and about

No 11 Brunswick is just a five minute stroll from the Edinburgh Playhouse. Highlights in late 2016 include Billy Elliot, running until 22nd October, Catherine Tate on 7th November, girls’ night with The Dreamboys on 10th November and feel-good musical Mamma Mia, running from 29th November to 7th January.

Edinburgh’s Christmas and Hogmanay events get underway from 18th November, with a wealth of shows, rides, ice-skating and attractions in Princes Street Gardens, and the popular Christmas markets on Princes Street and St Andrews Square.
