Set in beautifully landscaped gardens, Glenskirlie House & Castle is a spectacular wedding venue, luxury hotel and elegant restaurant near Banknock. Part of the original house, the recently refurbished Restaurant and Grill is ideal for a special romantic meal, a memorable family get-together or an informal dinner with friends.
The chefs at Glenskirlie House Restaurant and Grill take great pride in using the best quality Scottish ingredients to create their innovative British menus. As well as an express lunch menu, they offer an a la carte and keenly priced, inventive market menu.
The a la carte starters are an appealing blend of tradition, adventure and new twists on classics. Examples might be the soy and sesame-cured cod with ginger sake jelly and avocado mayo or the chicken and rabbit terrine served with a pistachio purée and cherry Bakewell.
The main courses are split into classic crowd-pleasers and more complex options. The 1/2lb burger; steak pie or the haddock and hand-cut chips with a parsley and butter sauce fit the first category. Dishes like the chicken with peanut pesto, pickled raisin, charred broccoli and broccoli velouté fit the second.
There are also T-bone and fillet Scotch beef steaks, game and fish dishes like the sea bass with Cullen skink. Naturally, the menus change according to the seasons and the produce available.
Glenskirlie House Restaurant is part of Glenskirlie House & Castle on Kilsyth Road, Banknock. It is approximately twenty minutes from Glasgow, 40 from Edinburgh and fifteen from Stirling via the M80. There is ample parking on site. Local attractions include The Falkirk Wheel and Carron Valley Reservoir.
