  This was our second time visiting the Grapevine. We, again were not disappointed. The service is brilliant and the food is impecable. I thoroughly recommend this place to anyone who is thinking about going.

Stylish Scottish restaurant in Bothwell

Under new ownership since early 2014, Grapevine is a cosy, contemporary restaurant that makes the most of seasonal, Scottish produce. Decorated with pictures of wine bottles and displays of wine, Grapevine has a relaxed friendly atmosphere. An inviting lounge is available for pre-dinner drinks or after dinner coffees.

Inventive use of Scotland’s larder

The chefs at Grapevine blend innovation with a healthy respect for Scottish ingredients. The menu changes regularly but starters like the Loch Fyne scallops with a ham hough and pea risotto would be typical; as would a main course of Highland venison haunch and loin with butternut, curly kale; a beetroot and juniper gratin with blueberries.

There are dishes for the adventurous such as the pig’s head croquette with marinated raisins and a spiced cauliflower purée. More traditional choices might include the steaks on the grill section or the whole plaice served with caper and herb butter.

Desserts like the whisky and heather honey pannacotta served with raspberry and shortbread underline the kitchen’s love of local flavours.

Grapevine is on the Main Street in Bothwell. The restaurant is five minutes from the nearby town of Uddingston and fifteen minutes from Glasgow city centre. There is free parking on the street and a car park located just off the nearby Green Street. Local attractions include Strathclyde Country Park.
