Billed as the West End’s only rock ‘n’ roll hangout, The Record Factory is a bar, kitchen, club and gig venue towards the Partick end of Byres Road. Club nights, bands at the weekends and late opening until 2am, seven nights a week, keep it lively. As well as a spacious beer garden, The Record Factory features booth seating, a pool table and more gig flyers than you can shake a drum stick at. Rock ‘n’ roll, indie, soul and blues make up the play list.
The kitchen is run by the Meathammer catering crew, the winners of Glasgow’s Best Burger 2014. They serve dishes such as bubble ‘n’ squeak, mac cheese or a burnt pineapple and blue cheese salad. However, the star of the show is the award-winning burger selection.
Cooked fresh to order, the 6oz patties are served on handmade custom brioche buns with triple-cooked chips. The range changes but a typical choice might be the Great White Buffalo Burger topped with smoked bacon, stilton, grilled red onion, little gem, tomato, red onion marmalade, garlic mayo and a Jack Daniels bourbon glaze.
Often towering six inches or more high, Meathammer’s inventions are considered by many to be among the most innovative of Glasgow’s wide and varied burger offerings.
The Record Factory is on Byres Road in Glasgow’s West End. The nearest subway station is Kelvinhall and the nearest train station is at Partick. The city centre is around a five minute drive. There is limited pay parking in the area. Local attractions include Kelvinhall, Kelvingrove Park and Museum.
