  On arriving at the restaurant we were greeted pleasantly by the waiting staff and although we got there slightly early our table was ready. Initial impressions, nice ambiance, nice table, pleasant staff. Initially service was great with our jackets being taken on arrival, drinks and food orders taken promptly and starter arriving quickly. My husband had black pudding and poached egg to start he loved it, I had prawn cocktail which was tasteless. In between the starter and main course the waiter took away my husbands glass, not offering to refill. It took three attempts and over 5 minutes to get his attention to ask for another drink. Main course came, looked delicious. On further inspection the medium steak we asked for was more like medium to well done and was dry, although to be fair the vegetables were nice. Once dinner was finished we waited a while to be given desert menus and longer to be asked if we would like anything from the menu. By this point we had waited so long we decided to give dessert a miss. During the meal the waiting staff never once asked us if we enjoyed our meal. On leaving no-one offered to get our jackets, we had to find them ourselves. I've never given a restaurant a bad review before, but I feel for the prices Bovine charge common courtesy from the waiting staff is the least that can be expected, especially as we had went there for a special birthday treat for my husband.
