Magnificent Scottish restaurant in Pollokshields
Arriving at Sherbrooke Castle you may find it hard to believe you are still in Glasgow. The magnificent baronial building surrounded by sweeping grounds located in the leafy suburb of Pollokshields, feels a world away from the hustle and bustle of the city. However the hotel, whose restaurant serves a range of Scottish and continental dishes, is only a ten minute journey from Glasgow city centre.
The castle’s traditionally Scottish decor of tartan carpeting and historical portraits make dining in the restaurant feel like a truly elegant experience.
Local produce
Sherbrooke Castle’s restaurant places particular emphasis on using local produce, specialising in traditional Scottish cuisine. Main courses include saddle of lamb with minted mash, glazed peas and rosemary jus, while the starters may feature hot smoked salmon with brown bread and butter.
Italian cuisine also features on the menu, with dishes such as seafood risotto and tomato and black olive gnocchi making an appearance.
Those with a sweet tooth can indulge on the dessert menu which may feature raspberry pavlova, a duo of chocolate mousse or Howgate Brie.
Transport links
Sherbrooke Castle, located in Pollokshields in Glasgow’s South Side, is conveniently located for public transport links. It is a four minute walk from Dumbreck train station which serves trains to Glasgow Central Station, a ten minute journey away.
