    Lovely meal and great staff.

We arrived on a cold night to find our table reserved in a lovely cosy place near the fire. The meal was such great value and delicious. Staff made us feel so welcome and service was first class. All round a great evening and we will certainly be back soon! Thanks to all at Rab Ha’s.

    Fab Rab's!

I booked for a party of 5 but only 2 of us were able to attend on the day. The staff were very understanding and accommodating. They were very friendly and attentive. We didn't feel rushed in any way and actually ended up moving to a smaller table to have more drinks after our food! Lovely afternoon all round.

Welcoming bar and restaurant in Merchant City

Named after a legendary 19th century Glasgow glutton, Rab Ha’s is a welcoming bar and restaurant with rooms on Hutcheson Street. In the summer of 2017, new owners gave the much-loved Merchant City institution a thoughtful refurbishment. The very opposite of a bland chain, Rab Ha’s is an independent, family-run with business with oodles of character. Visitors can look forward to a cosy and tranquil space with stripped stone walls, an open fire and wood panelling in the bar and restaurant.

Quirky modern bar menu

Alongside lots of other choices, mince and tatties, haggis and Cullen skink all give the menu at Rab Ha’s a slight Scottish flavour. More exotic dishes might be the Thai broth mussels or the plate of serrano ham with chorizo, olive tapenade and pecorino cheese. Popular main courses include the bangers and mash, steak pie and the salmon teriyaki with pickled ginger and jasmine rice.
The menu is good fun. The veggie haggis referred to as the grass-eating variety while chips are, perhaps inevitably, known as Glasgow salad. The hummus and pitta starter is marked as ‘for keep fit types’. We suspect that the original Rab Ha would approve.

Merchant City transport links and attractions

Rab Ha’s is located in the heart of Merchant City on Hutcheson Street. A short walk from Queen Street and Central rail stations, the bar and restaurant is also close to pay parking facilities on Glassford Street and Albion Street. Local attractions include the City Halls and Old Fruitmarket.
