Urban Bar & Brasserie Review

  • Rating Birthday dinner (Rating 3.0/5)
Went to Urban for my husbands birthday there were 5 adults. Booked the 5pm menu because it looked better than other competitors like Western Club (albeit we noticed this is their sister restaurant) Tempus and 29 - to be perfectly honest I was disappointed. First of all we had a booth which was a bit of a struggle we would have preferred a round table I suggested we ask for one but my family didn't want to cause a fuss. So we stuck with the booth. Felt the decor was a bit downtrodden looking as had not been in a while and its in need of a refurbishment. The staff were not very friendly and definitely didnt give me the impression they were delighted to serve us. I chose Urban because of the menu being more varied than the others mentioned but on arrival was shocked to see that it wasnt as good as had been advertised. 3 of us chose the burger and 2 the chicken - the burger looked as good as any Ive seen didn't feel it was that special also the chicken I actually have tasted better the chorizo with the chicken was practically non existent and cut into very small slices which I didnt' think was too good. The glass of wine with the deal was tiny! we all noticed that! The starters again there wasnt a great choice we all opted for the prawn cocktail it was delicious but I wasnt impressed in the small "tumbler" which it was served in appearance is everything! One of us had dessert which again was served very plain in a "tumbler" not impressive at all I thought. Overall I personally would not go back for a celebration or special occasion I would visit for a light tea but not a special occasion disappointing for me and didn't feel good when I paid the bill as I like to fee satisfied at the end! No wee birthday touch from the restaurant for my hubby which I thought was quite unreal as most restaurants these days of this calibre would present you with even a small fairy cake! I'm not impressed at all with this. So sorry, Urban - you didn't win me over this time Have to add that my family had no complaints
