  We were going to the Hydro and looking for somewhere close by for a meal. Two Fat Ladies at the Shandon Belles is downstairs from Two Fat Ladies in Argyle St. Two courses plus a glass of wine for £15. The menu had a good choice with a couple of specials (one was pork - £2 extra; the other a prawn dish at +£4). Three courses are available and two of our party took advantage of this. Coffee and tablet is £2. Pleasantly surprised by the size of the glass of wine - larger than usual offers but a good start to the evening. Bread and dipping oil also provided. Everyone was very happy with the food - very tasty and good portion sizes. Service was very good without being intrusive and when we explained at the dessert stage that we were aiming to be at the show at a certain time, staff saw to it that we were served in timely fashion. Surroundings: small, quirky, low ceilinged, creating a cosy atmosphere. A great success. We would definitely return.
