Having served the Southside of Glasgow for over thirty years, The Punjabi expanded to new premises at Charing Cross in 2011. A spacious restaurant with real character, the fully licensed Punjabi Charing Cross cooks top quality Indian dishes from recipes which have been handed down through the restaurant’s long history.
Open seven days a week, The Punjabi Charing Cross specialises in Punjabi dishes as well as more general Indian cuisine. Popular Punjabi specials include starters like the sea bass, mussels and lamb chops. Among the main courses, the lamb mulaidhar comes highly recommended – lean lamb flavoured with spinach, chilli and coriander in a creamy sauce.
As well as a range of dishes cooked in the tandoor, there is a full selection of curries such as the bhoona, dhansak and dopiaza, all available with chicken, lamb, prawns, vegetables or paneer. The Punjabi Charing Cross also serves a wide choice of Indian nans, roti and paratha.
Naturally, there is the option of dishes such as the chicken Maryland, omelettes and steak for diners who are less keen on a curry.
The Punjabi Charing Cross is on North Street, a five minute walk from Charing Cross rail station. It is also close to many bus routes and a five minute walk from a Sauchiehall Street taxi rank. There is some on-street parking. The King’s Theatre and the O2 ABC are a ten minute walk while the Mitchell Library is just two minutes away.
