  We booked for a party of 4 on a Thursday night. I received a call from the restaurant the day before to tell me the menu had changed and the price had increased but I was happy enough to continue with the booking. On arrival, the alternative menu was disappointing with very little choice for vegetarians. The only pasta dish on the menu, which I found unusual as it's an italian restaurant, was lasagne. Myself and one of my dining colleagues had to revert back to the a la carte menu which although more expensive did come with a free glass of wine. I asked for a dish that had chicken in it but asked if the chicken could be substituted with mushroom as I was vegetarian. When the bill came I was charged an additional 90p for leaving out the chicken and substituting with a cheaper item. Can't quite work that one out. Two of my dining companions chose from the 5pm menu and opted for the steak which they knew was a £2.50 supplement. The waiter asked what sauce they would like and both chose peppercorn only to be charged an additional £2.50 each for it when the bill came with no indication on the menu or from the waiter re the extra charge. Instead of the advertised £11 for 2 courses it ended up costing them £16 each. Food was average so very disappointed as had visited before and throughly enjoyed it.
