  On the recommendation of a friend I booked Cranachan for 5 on a Sunday afternoon. We arrived promptly and were served promptly. Slight hiccough as first waitress didn't explain the afternoon tea process to us so after a helpful tutorial we were ready to order. Teas and coffee came within 5 minutes - coffee was lovely and it was a real shame already small cups were only two thirds full. Then we waited - drinks finished, 2 reminders to very pleasant waitress - finally after 40 minutes sandwiches and cakes arrived but our requested water did not. I asked the waitress who served us but nope still no water. I approached the same nice waitress again as I could no longer eat without some fluid. Few minutes later water arrived along with some extra complimentary sandwiches - would have preferred a drink to be honest! Restaurant was certainly busy and very hot although windows had been opened. Toilet clean but very small and my very pregnant daughter struggled to negotiate the doorways. Sandwiches and cakes were lovely and staff provided me with a doggy bag on request. Overall, we had a nice afternoon and staff were incredibly polite and apologetic but really there is no excuse for such delays - either reduce your bookings or put on more staff. Sadly I would not go back unless I had a guarantee of prompt service. Scones were gorgeous though;)
