• Rating Service still too slow for pre-theatre meal (Rating 3.2/5)

  The venue is attractive, the location great, the pre-theatre menu very well-priced, and the food is perfectly fine. The front of house service was polite, but there was a real problem with the speed of service. This had been brought out in previous reviews but I decided to take a chance on it. Unfortunately the management has still not got a grip of this. The whole point of a pre-theatre meal is that it can be delivered in time to get diners to the theatre for 7.30, and the limited menu options are usually designed with that in mind. But despite booking a pre-theatre meal in advance, and despite telling the waitress on our arrival, it took 80 minutes to deliver a simple two-course meal (2 x Chicken with mash) and two simple desserts. In that short time we were served by three different people, one of whom appeared to be management, even though at 6pm there were only half a dozen tables dining. One of the waiters apologised, but that doesn't help when you find yourself rushing to the till to pay the bill so you can get to the theatre, and arrive at it in the wrong state of mind.
