  Good food and service again

  Not my first visit to Rafael's. Again the food was great with the duck breast a perfect pink in an excellent Cumberland sauce. Cheesecake was good but could perhaps have been better with more passion fruit to balance out the lemon curd.

  Birthday dinner

  Lovely evening for my son's birthday. Excellent service and fabulous food. The owner/chef explained menu to us from a blackboard. Wide variety and happy to adapt to suit individuals. Cosy friendly atmosphere.

Charming Mediterranean restaurant in Stockbridge

Rafael’s is located in a small basement on Deanhaugh Street in the popular Stockbridge area of Edinburgh. Using Scottish ingredients to serve a mix of classic Spanish and Mediterranean dishes with a twist, Rafael’s is friendly and homely and you are always guaranteed a warm welcome. Highchairs are available for guests with children and since opening in 2001 the restaurant has been a hit with locals as well as visitors to Edinburgh.

Daily changing menu, relaxed surroundings

Rafael’s has high standards in and out of the kitchen, and it is this care and attention to detail in both food and service that has been the secret to Rafael’s success. The restaurant’s menu changes each day, but an example of some dishes that may feature include homemade sun-blushed tomato and goats cheese tart; homemade fish stew; wild mushroom Wellington or fresh smoked salmon and monkfish terrine.

Stockbridge & New Town accessibility

Rafael’s is on Deanhaugh Street is Edinburgh’s Stockbridge. Within walking distance of the New Town and Queens Street Gardens, there are also bus stops nearby with services running to the city centre. Shopping hub Princes Street is around twenty minutes away on foot.
