A recent TripAdvisor review of Culcreuch Castle Hotel tells of one guest’s delight after her partner proposed to her during their stay in August.
With a history dating back some 700 years, we suspect it wasn’t the first successful proposal within the castle walls.
We also suspect it won’t be the last.
Not that you need to have a ring in your pocket to enjoy a fairytale stay at the enchanting Culcreuch Castle Hotel.

Under an hour from Glasgow and less than 90 minutes from Edinburgh, it is also very easy to reach.

Breakfast is served in the Laird’s Hall. This offer also includes a two course dinner – starter and main – in the Dungeon Diner, part of the original castle tower.
Locally sourced ingredients take pride of place on the menu in the Dungeon Diner. The menu changes regularly but typical starters might be the West Coast fish cake with Thai mayo or the Heritage beetroots with orange blossom, goat’s curd and Marcona almonds.
Popular main courses include the Scotch lamb, mint and red chilli burger or Scrabster hake with girolles, cavolo nero and roasted cauliflower purée.

SO glad we found Culcreuch… It was fabulous… enjoyed the country setting… found our bed and room to be very comfortable. We had some food in the restaurant…. the service and food were wonderful….
