Want to stay in the Best Island Hotel in the Country?
Say hello to Skeabost House Hotel near Portree on the Isle of Skye.
Earlier in 2017, it won the title at the Scottish Hotel Awards.
This was a couple of weeks after hip hop superstar Kanye West chose Skeabost as his base when on Skye to shoot a video.
Obviously, Mr West has good taste in video shoot locations.
Dramatic, moody and mysterious, Skye is the perfect location for shooting a promo video or, as is more likely for most of us, enjoying a romantic getaway.
Reach for the Skye with today’s Big Deal on a relaxing stay at Skeabost House Hotel, near Portree on Skye.
Christmas gift idea
Valid from the start of November to the 22nd March 2018, this is a conveniently flexible offer. You could use it for a pre-Christmas escape from all the preparations.
It would be ideal for a reviving, post-festive break.
And, of course, an island getaway is always the most romantic of breaks should you be searching for a memorable Christmas present for someone special.
Skeabost was originally built as a hunting lodge in the 19th century and is located in beautiful private grounds on the edge of Loch Snizort.
A seven minute drive from Portree, the island’s capital, The Skeabost is perfectly placed for leisurely drives all around the island and day trips to several other islands off the coast.
Now under new ownership, the premises have been lovingly restored and beautifully refurbished to compliment the hotel’s fabulous traditional features and oak panelling.
The renovation has artistically blended original features with contemporary furniture and fabrics, including tweeds in eye-catching colours. The result is an enchanting ambience which oozes luxury, style and Victorian grandeur.
Public areas provide surroundings to match any occasion, from sitting by the fire in the drawing room, or reading a novel in the bright morning room, to sipping pre-dinner cocktails in the cosy whisky bar.
Available seven days a week, option one of this offer is for two people to enjoy an overnight stay in a Pier double or twin room at Skeabost.
Option two, also available seven nights a week, is for two people to have a two consecutive night stay.
Both options include a full Scottish or continental breakfast each morning.
Depending on availability, guests may be able to upgrade to a Superior Room for a supplement.
Round of golf?
The hotel has its own golf course, which is available to use at a charge, arranged with the hotel. The nine hole, eighteen tee course weaves its way through the picturesque, landscaped, loch side gardens.
While Skeabost House Hotel has handsome 19th century good looks, it also has modern comforts and features such as WiFi, ensuite rooms, hospitality trays and flat screen TVs.
A full Scottish breakfast is part of this Big Deal.
Guests who choose to take other meals in the hotel can look forward to menus which make the most of fresh fish and seafood straight from the fishing port of Mallaig; local venison and beef; baby veg and edible flowers from North Skye plus mussels, crabs and oysters from central Skye.
It is no surprise that the hotel has two AA Rosettes.
There is an interesting and varied wine list along with a large range of malt whiskies and vast selection of Scottish Gins; something to suit all tastes.
See & do
Skye is famous for its challenging climbing and breath-taking walking opportunities not to mention its historical attractions such as Dunvegan Castle.
In season, there is fishing available (additional fees payable) on the hotel’s private trout and salmon river.
Travellers have relaxed at Skeabost House Hotel since the 19th century. This is what a more recent guest – not Kanye – told TripAdvisor. We’ve cut it for length but not meaning:
‘Great hotel, lovely location, beautiful room with a view. Skeabost was my husband’s favourite hotel on our trip… The room was spacious and the bathroom was huge! Well appointed and the bed was ultra comfy. We stayed in the adjoining Pier Rooms with water views. Our meals were spectacular. Dinner was first class and delicious. There were some very interesting historic sites within walking distance. We would definitely return…’
Skye has enchanted generations of visitors. And the occasional rapper.
Take up today’s Big Deal on a one or two night stay at the award-winning Skeabost House Hotel and let the island work its magic on you.
