Made any Valentine’s plans yet?
What about hopping into your car and driving just 30 minutes outside Glasgow to one of the most charming little country hotels you’ll encounter, Uplawmoor Hotel?
With breakfast and dinner is included – what more could you need for a romantic overnight treat?
Escape to a historic coaching inn
Uplawmoor Hotel is a charming Renfrewshire village retreat that began its life back in 1759. Since then it has been welcoming weary travellers from far and wide for over two centuries.
Nowadays the hotel is known for its outstanding food and award winning service. The added bonus of a pretty garden and patio area means that you can make the most of any sunny weather, plus there is also a cocktail bar to unwind in.
Handily, the hotel is also easy to reach from both Glasgow city centre and Glasgow Airport.
Today’s Big Deal offers a one night stay in a double or twin room with breakfast. This includes a starter and main each from the set menu served meaning you have all the makings of a thoroughly lovely mini getaway.
Comfy and cheerful rooms
Each of the hotel’s fourteen rooms are cheerfully decorated and have ensuite bathrooms with showers.
Other room features include free WiFi, satellite TV, a phone, alarm clock, iron with board, hairdryer, hospitality tray and complimentary water.
Two course dinner
The Uplawmoor’s much lauded restaurant was originally a beamed barn but, while its roots may have been humble, the food served there now is rather more ambitious.
If you book this deal between 14th and 17th February, you’ll enjoy a three course candlelit meal from a special Valentine’s menu as well as a glass of Prosecco. Note, there is a £25 per night supplement for stays on these dates.
On other dates, you’ll tuck into a starter and main course from the set menu.
The menu can change regularly, but starters might include the Chef’s chicken liver parfait with herb leaf salad, balsamic reduction, plum chutney & mini oatcakes, and the creamy garlic mushrooms with toasted garlic ciabatta grilled with cheese.
Mains could feature the Uplawmoor chicken & leek pie with creamy white wine sauce, puff pastry, mashed potatoes, sautéed potatoes and seasonal vegetables, and the freshly battered haddock with hand cut chips, mushy peas & tartare sauce.
See & do
As mentioned, Uplawmoor Hotel sits snugly in a small Renfrewshire village and is well placed for exploring Burns country. It is also handy for both the Silverburn and Braehead shopping centres.
Other nearby attractions include Lochwinnoch Nature Reserve, Caldwell Golf Club and Coats Observatory.
The Uplawmoor Hotel has an excellent average 4.5/5 overall TripAdvisor rating. Here are some recent enthusiastic reviews, edited for length:
‘Booked this hotel for one night…hotel was quiet and clean even although it was a quiz night in the lounge. Lovely cocktail bar with open flame fire and the evening meal was great. Staff were helpful, especially Yvonne who served our dinner and breakfast. Cannot fault the hotel for the price, have paid more for room only in other places. Staff gave us a bucket of ice for the room, something that has been declined in other places… will return again.’
‘A lovely hotel with great family feel service and attention to detail. We have stayed on many occasions… it’s a lovely hotel and the food is home cooked and delicious. Definitely recommend a visit.’
‘Stayed as a couple at the end of March… the welcome was warm, nice family run atmosphere. We had a small but spotless room, spotless bedding and neat little ensuite. Very warm, excellent heating. Good beds, had a good nights sleep… good choice at breakfast, good service. We didn’t have an evening meal but the food looked very good from what we could see of others in the bar area. We would stay here again if in the area. Good parking, safe parking. Thank you overall.’
