Bye bye port and pies. Hello post-festive denial and calorie counting.
Happily, it doesn’t have to be this way.
Keep the good times rolling with today’s Big Deal on a two night mini-break for two in the atmospheric East Haugh House Hotel in the Perthshire Highlands.
Two acres of gardens
Built originally as part of the Atholl Estate some 350 years ago, the family-run East Haugh House is a beautiful, turreted stone house set in two acres of gardens.
Privately owned, the romantic four star hotel has scooped multiple awards for its food, hospitality and its fishing.
Its individually designed rooms all have their own character and epitomise the style of a small, exclusive sporting lodge in its Victorian heyday, with all the latest creature comforts that the non-Victorian guest could wish for.
Two night break
Available Sunday to Friday, the offer is for two people to enjoy a two night break in a cosy double room with a full Scottish breakfast each morning.
Your room will have a king bed; en-suite bathroom with bath and over head shower; luxury Scottish toiletries; tea and coffee making facilities along with home-made shortbread, fluffy white towels, DVD players and a flat screen TV.
Each room is available to be made up as a twin and every room has free Wi-Fi access.
Depending on availability, there may be the option to upgrade to a room with a four poster bed, Jacuzzi bath and/or fireplace.
A full cooked Scottish breakfast is part of the offer. If you choose to take other meals at the hotel then you can look forward to the best of Scottish produce.
The hotel’s award-winning Two Sisters restaurant and fisherman’s’ bar, run by chef patron Neil McGown, makes the most of local produce including West Coast seafood and, when in season, game.
The Michelin Guide has this to say about the dining at East Haugh House:
‘Charming fishermen’s bar and a bright, laid-back restaurant, located in a lovely 17C stone house. The seasonal Scottish menu is served in both areas; cooking is clean and exact, with fish and game to the fore and tasty home-baked breads.’
See & do
The local area offers superb fishing on the River Tay and there are fantastic golfing opportunities nearby. The charming Edradour distillery is nearby as is the House of Bruar should a little shopping appeal.
Just off the old A9 road, the hotel is perfectly situated for guests to enjoy beautiful woodland walks and riverside rambles or to have a leisurely browse around the shops and cafes of picturesque Pitlochry.
East Haugh House Hotel has quite a fan base on TripAdvisor. This is what a recent guest had to say:
‘Delightful stay. I should have known we were in for a treat when we were greeted with the words, “I’ve just lit the fire in your room.” We had a wonderfully relaxed time at East Haugh House… As well as a real fire in our room we enjoyed a whirlpool bath and a four-poster bed, while the breakfasts and dinner were all delicious. Staff were, without exception, friendly and welcoming and we spent a pleasant day walking up to the Black Spout waterfall and then on to Scotland’s smallest distillery, Edradour… before wandering into Pitlochry for a warming coffee. The House of Bruar is fifteen minutes away which is probably too near for your wallet’s good, and Pitlochry itself is a great place to meander round. We would certainly return to East Haugh House.’
Vouchers are valid until the end of March which makes this offer ideal for brightening up the early part of 2016.
