Blue skies, trees in bud and a new series of MasterChef on the horizon – spring must be on the way.
Make the most of the crisp new season with today’s Big Deal on a four night, midweek break or three night, weekend break in the outstanding self-catering cottages at the Atholl Palace Hotel near Pitlochry.
Located in the centre of Scotland, Pitlochry is a fantastic base from which to explore Perthshire.
The mountains of the Cairngorms National Park, the Lochs Tummel and Rannoch and the historic sites of Dunkeld Cathedral and the Battle of Killiecrankie are all within twenty miles.
Atholl Palace is also very convenient to get to. Guests can travel from Glasgow or Edinburgh in under two hours.
The Atholl Palace lodges offer genuine home away from home levels of comfort – perfect after a day in the hills or you could just relax in your lodge and enjoy the tranquillity of the Atholl Palace grounds.
Option one is available from the Monday of each week and the deal is for up to six people to spend a four night, midweek break in a luxurious, three bedroom lodge.
Option two is for a three night weekend break for six people starting on the Friday of each week.
High spec fittings
The Atholl Palace holiday homes are dotted around the 48 acre estate. Taking pride of place among them are a selection of eye-catching, three bedroom lodges, all of which have their own unique charms.
The modern lodges, such as the Garry Lodge, are spacious, luxurious and equipped with flat screen TVs, WiFi and MP3 stations.
They all have balconies, decking or large picture windows which make the most of the stunning Highland scenery, not to mention views of local wildlife such as the deer which come to graze on the lawns at dusk and dawn.
By contrast, the Gate Lodge is a gothic fairytale of a building, decorated in the traditional style of a Victorian shooting lodge.
In the sitting room, the red leather Chesterfields gather around the wood burning stove, while the windows are set into one of the romantic circular towers.
Each of the three ensuite bedrooms has its own character and one even has a four poster bed.
Three course dinner
The self catering facilities in the cottages are ideal for home cooks but, if you want a night or two away from the stove, the offer includes a discount on table d’hote dinners in The Verandah Restaurant at the Atholl Palace Hotel.
Normally £28.50 for a three course table d’hote dinner with coffee, thanks to this offer you can enjoy a three course set dinner in the restaurant for £20 per person.
The kitchen specialises in game and fish from Scotland’s larder. The menus change regularly but typical choices might include starters such as the cured crayfish tails with egg and a lime and cracked pepper dressing.
Typical main course choices could include the Highlander medley: a julienne of roast venison haunch bound with cranberry, port, olive oil dressing, cherry tomatoes and green leaves.
During your stay, you can enjoy full use of the hotel’s leisure facilities including indoor heated swimming pools, a sauna, Jacuzzi, gym and snooker table. Of course, guests can always book in for treatments and pamper themselves in the Lavender Spa – perfect for a spring break with family or friends.
