As the great Ella Fitzgerald noted, “It’s summertime and the livin’ is easy”.
The livin’ is especially easy if you take up today’s Big Deal on a meal at the award-winning No. 1 The Bank Bistro in Perth.
Part of The Parklands Hotel on St Leonard’s Bank, the intimate dining room overlooks the glorious gardens.
Eat al fresco
If the weather is anything like it has been recently, guests may even be able to eat al fresco on the Summer Terrace.
Executive Chef Graeme Pallister champions Perthshire’s natural larder and his fine cooking has ensured that No. 1 The Bank won the Best Bistro Award at the Scottish Hotel Awards in 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2013.
Lunch or dinner
Available for lunch, seven days a week from noon-1.15pm, and for dinner, Sunday to Thursday from 6pm-7pm, the offer is for two people to each have a main course from the market menu with a glass of wine.
The menus at No. 1 The Bank Bistro change regularly but typical dishes might be the pan-roasted Loch Etive sea trout with samphire, peas, saffron potatoes and lime butter or the breast of Scottish chicken with an onion tart, creamed potato and whisky jus.
There is also a grill section of Scottish lamb and beef dishes. A supplement will be charged for these.
No. 1 The Bank Bistro has many admirers. Last year, The Scotsman’s Gaby Soutar reviewed the bistro and gave the food a score of 8.5/10 while calling it ‘impressive stuff’.
TripAdvisor has been just as complimentary:
‘Great food. Lots of local ingredients, lovely presentation of great, tasty food. Brilliant service. Enjoyed dinner very much. Can definitely recommend the Hotel and the Bistro.’
