Our perfect Sunday revolves around a great Sunday lunch. Preferably with a countryside drive first as a little appetite sharpener.
Make your Sunday perfect with today’s Big Deal on Sunday lunch at Achray House Hotel by Loch Earn.
We think it’s a lovely place and we’re not the only ones.
Last year, Achray House Hotel won a Best Hotel & Restaurant 2018 from LUX Life Magazine and was also ranked one of the best small hotels in Perthshire by TravelMyth.
And if that wasn’t enough, it also bagged itself a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence.
Escape to the loch
Set on Loch Earn and part of Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park, Achray House is a great base for exploring St. Andrews, Dunkeld, Crieff and Oban (if you can drag yourself away from those beautiful views, that is).
Just over an hour’s drive from Edinburgh or Glasgow, it’s also easy to get to.
And if you don’t fancy driving then it may be possible to organise complimentary pick-up and return to Stirling train station – subject to availability.
Dine with a view
Overlooking Loch Earn and surrounded by the natural beauty of St. Fillans village, the Achray House conservatory restaurant means a meal here is a treat for both the eyes and the taste buds. Especially as autumn begins to paint the countryside gold.
Led by head chef Filip Verheyden, the kitchen team uses classical French techniques to deliver terrific flavours and striking presentation with outstanding Scottish ingredients.
Available on Sundays up to and including Sunday 15th December 2019, then again from 5th January to 29th March 2020, option one of this offer is for two people to enjoy a starter and main course from the Sunday lunch menu at Achray House Hotel.
Option two is for two people to each have a welcome cocktail followed by a starter and main course from the Sunday lunch menu.
Option three is for two people to have a welcome cocktail, starter and main course from the Sunday lunch menu plus an overnight stay in a double or twin loch view standard room.
Lunch is served: 1pm-3pm.
The Sunday lunch menu changes regularly but typical starters might be the pan-fried mackerel served with spring onion mayonnaise or the roasted duck breast with crispy chorizo, celeriac puree and spring onions.
The roast sirloin of aged beef is always popular as is the roast leg of lamb marinated in rosemary and garlic. Of course, roasts come with all the trimmings such as seasonal greens and roasted root vegetables, Yorkshire pudding, and bottomless gravy.
Naturally, there are always vegetarian options such as the starter of Thai sweet potato, lentil and coconut soup served or the sweetcorn risotto served with leafy greens from Tomnaha market garden.
A typical veggie main course might be the vegetable press – sweet potato, beetroot and shiitake mushrooms with asparagus with carrot purée.
If you opt to stay overnight, all guest rooms at Achray House Hotel are spacious and comfortable with a subtle Scottish theme.
As well as a king size bed and the highest quality bedding for a lovely night’s rest, you can enjoy state-of-the-art perks like a flat-screen TV with satellite (including Sky Sports), an Alexa and a Nespresso machine. Free WiFi is available throughout.
Achray House Hotel has earned itself a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence for its fantastic reviews. Here are a couple of recent ones:

Make your Sunday special
A Sunday drive followed by a spectacular roast lunch with lochside views. This Big Deal from Achray House Hotel would make a super treat for a family friend and a great day out for Gran.
It’s a wonderful gift idea for a foodie friend and would be ideal for lunch with the family.
It would also make a very romantic date for a couple in need of a little time together. Did we mention the option of an overnight stay?
