In a couple of weeks, the decorations will come down; people will be going back to work and the Christmas chocolate selection boxes will be reduced to the strawberry fondants that nobody likes.
Happily, today’s Big Deal offers the perfect antidote to post-festive blues.
With today’s Big Deal, you can escape the city and explore Scotland’s winter wilderness from the comfort of a cosy, self catering cottage at Moness Resort.
Set in a 35 acre woodland estate yet less than two hours from all of Scotland’s major cities, Moness Resort is easy to get to but feels a long way from the grind of urban life.
It’s Highland Perthshire on your doorstep.
With vouchers valid from the 2nd of January until Monday 31st March, this offer would make a cracker of a Christmas present for friends or family.
Available seven days a week, the offer comes in three forms. Option one is for two people to have a 2 night stay in a one bedroom cottage plus a 30 minute back, neck and shoulder massage for each guest in the resort spa.
Option two is for a 2 night stay and massage for up to three people while option three is for a massage and 2 night stay for up to four people.
A charge for utilities will be levied at the end of your stay at a rate of 10.4p per kilowatt. All cottages are non-smoking.
There is a £10 per night per lodge supplement for Friday and Saturday night stays.
4 star family break
The cottages at Moness Resort are fully equipped for self-catering and have been awarded four star Scottish Tourist Board grading.
Many of the cottages have views overlooking the magnificent Aberfeldy Hills and the surrounding countryside.
Kitted out with everything you need to make cooking a pleasure, the cottages also feature satellite TV and DVDs. The resort has two fine restaurants for those nights when you don’t fancy cooking.
Guests staying in a cottage are welcome to use all of the resort’s extensive leisure facilities. The changing rooms, steam room, sauna, individual treatment rooms and poolside showers have recently been refurbished while the heated swimming pool is as popular as ever.
Badminton, mini-tennis, squash, table tennis and pool are all available on site or you could indulge in some luxurious treatments in the new Spa Therapy Rooms.
Don’t forget that a 30minute back, neck and shoulder massage for each guest is included in the deal.
Scottish restaurant in Perthshire
The resort has two dining options which are open to all guests.
Part of Moness Resort Hotel, Flemmyng Restaurant offers an excellent choice of fresh meat, fish and game sourced in Perthshire.
The menu is changed daily but typical dishes might be the Moness prawn cocktail; the char grilled rib-eye of Scotch beef or the Scottish salmon fillet served with a sun-blush tomato polenta cake.
As part of the offer, each couple will be offered a bottle of house wine when ordering a three course meal in the Flemmyng restaurant.
The Terrace Bar offers a less formal setting with comfy leather sofas and bistro style furniture and is ideal for a lighter or more informal meal.
See & do in Perthshire
The well presented grounds at Moness Resort are great for leisurely strolls – the duck pond and its family of mallards are always a popular destination.
Outside the resort, there are lots of opportunities for climbing and hill walking. Golfers will be happy to learn that there are over 40 courses nearby and the resort can help with tee times on courses such as Gleneagles.
We have posted a number of offers with Moness Resort before and some of the people who bought the deals told us that it was perfect for a girlie weekend. Others liked the value and others still told us that they had been to Moness before and thought it was perfect for a relaxing break.
This is what a recent visitor thought of her cottage stay on TripAdvisor:
‘Superb break with friends. Stayed with group of friends for three days in two cottages, one two bedroom and one with three. We asked to be next door to each other and this was done no problem. We had a great time! Everything was spotlessly clean, really comfortable and had everything you could ask for. We ate in the main restaurant and the food was delicious, staff were lovely and service was excellent. Checking in was quick friendly and helpful… Well done and thank you from all of us.’
