Once the grand, turreted home of a Scottish laird, Dalmunzie Castle in Highland Perthshire is now an elegant mountain-view hotel.

Although it is only a two hour drive from Glasgow or Edinburgh, the 6500-acre estate feels like a whole other world. Guests can make the most of the nine-hole golf course, tennis court and hiking trails.

The hotel is right on the doorstep of Cairngorms National Park, with the Glenshee Ski Centre and Pitlochry close by.

Dining and deluxe rooms

Each of the individually decorated rooms is filled with antiques and includes tea & coffee making facilities, bottled water, luxury toiletries and free WiFi.

The restaurant serves indulgent Scottish cuisine such as Isle of Mull hand-dived scallop; Aberdeen Angus sharing rib of beef, and macerated Bruce Farm strawberries.
