Located in Killin, near the scenic Falls of Dochart, The Courie Inn opened its doors in 2014.
Since then, it has chalked up more than 170 TripAdvisor reviews and, at the time of writing, 97% of them rated the family-run inn as Excellent or Very Good.
Of course, TripAdvisor is not the only reason why you should visit.
There is the beautiful surrounding countryside with its many opportunities for hill walking.
And, at the inn itself, the attractions include the comfortable rooms; the thoughtfully sourced food; the warm welcome with gas fire that make a winter stay at the Courie Inn such a cosy affair.
Discover it all for yourself with today’s Big Deal. Valid from the 9th of February to the end of April 2018, this offer would also make a wonderful present.
Available Sunday to Thursday, the offer is for two people to have a one or two night stay in a standard or economy room. A full Scottish and continental breakfast is included.
All rooms are ensuite and include tea and coffee making facilities, a smart Freeview TV with internet and access to a hairdryer, iron and ironing board.
Bistro and pub dining
If you choose to take other meals at The Courie Inn (not included), then you will be well looked after.
The inn has a comfortable bar and a separate bistro area. Both offer the same warm welcome and locally sourced Scottish produce.
Typical main courses might be the rump of slow roasted lamb, the steak and ale pie or the most-popular dish – the fish and chips.
Of course, all guests are encouraged to make the most of the comfortable lounge bar’s gas fire on those cold Scottish evenings, and sample a range of speciality beers and spirits.
See & do
Killin is a good base for hill walking, with the Tarmachan Ridge and the nearby Munros of Ben Lawers and Beinn Ghlas all easily accessible.
It also forms part of the famous southern highlands walk The Rob Roy Way, with Killin one of the stop-offs.
If you want to enjoy the great outdoors without pulling on your hiking boots, there are a lot of ways to spend your day – be it with a round of golf, fishing, mountain biking, canoeing or kayaking.
Other options might be a sightseeing trip with Highland Safari or you could brush up on your Iron Age survival skills with a visit to the Scottish Crannog.
For those looking for a more relaxing visit the village offers a range of local shops, gentle walks and some great places to eat and drink, not to mention the breathtaking scenery.
As we mentioned, The Courie Inn has many enthusiastic friends on TripAdvisor. Edited for length, this is what recent guests had to say:
‘Perfect. What a great place. Fabulous food, amazing service, lovely ambience, decor and atmosphere. Honestly couldn’t fault it. I believe they were fully booked that night, and I can see why. Would highly recommend!’
‘Great place to stay, very clean and modern. Staff very friendly and helpful. We got soaked cycling and the owner couldn’t do enough to help us get our kit dry for next day. Ate in the bar, nice food and plenty of it. Overall excellent place to stay, will definitely come back here.’
‘Really enjoyable stay in Killin and our first visit to the Courie Inn. Would really recommend it as a base for exploring the Loch Tay area whether wanting to walk from the door or drive to Kenmore etc to enjoy water sports or open water swimming… The breakfast had a wide choice of options… and everything was excellently cooked by the owner Michael. The staff… couldn’t do enough… We booked to eat the first night and enjoyed it so much we booked for our last night also.’
Romantic winter break
We have mentioned that this Big Deal from The Courie Inn would make a fantastic gift for anyone who appreciates Scotland’s natural beauty.
It would also be ideal for a hill walking break, a romantic getaway or simply a tranquil winter escape.
